ANXIETY

Do any of the following sound familiar:

I feel so edgy all the time, I just can’t seem to calm down.

My head never shuts off, thoughts go round and round and I can’t make them stop.

My heart sometimes beats so fast I feel like I am going to have a heart attack.

There are times when I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin.

I can’t seem focus or concentrate.

My chest feels heavy, like something is sitting on top of it.

I don’t want to do anything stressful because it might trigger an anxiety attack, and I will do anything to avoid that.

I can’t sleep, and when I do sleep it is always restless and not relaxing.

I just can’t seem to stop worrying about everything.

You may be suffering from excessive anxiety.

These symptoms are a sign that your body and mind are out of balance.  You may overreact to seemingly mild situations with an excessive amount of worry, or you may go the other way and be paralyzed with feelings of hopelessness.  You may try to calm yourself down, to tell yourself to relax, but it just doesn’t work.  You may try to tell yourself to just “snap out of it”, but that doesn’t work either.  If you are caught in the snares of an anxiety disorder, it is impossible to just talk or think your way out of it; but you already know that because you have tried, over and over and over.

So how can I help you?

I combine many different tools to help you overcome anxiety.  By working with your body and your mind, together you and I can work to help you regain the balance that has been lost.  Together we will understand the roots of your anxiety, we will understand how it works in your life, and then we will understand how to release its hold on you.  I will help you explore how you get triggered and then get caught in a cycle that keeps feeding on itself.  We will break that cycle down in to smaller parts, to see where we can intervene and stop it from progressing.

Feeling isolated and alone?

One of the most difficult things about suffering from is that it keeps us isolated.  We don’t talk about it for fear of judgment, not being believed, or because we don’t know how to talk about it.  And not talking about it just makes it worse.  The guilt and shame grow, and we isolate even more.  Because you don’t talk about it, you probably don’t know that thousands of people are suffering from the same things you are.  Everyone is unique, so it doesn’t always look the same, but many people you come in contact with on a regular basis are suffering silently, just like you.  Just like you, many people suffer alone because they are afraid of not being understood, of being judged, or because it is just too hard to talk about.  Calling for a free consultation is the first step in breaking free and living a life you didn’t think was possible.

You might be thinking that you really don’t have time for therapy right now.

How much time do you lose to anxiety attacks, to staying in bed because you just don’t have the energy to get up, or to staying home for fear of the anxiety becoming too strong if you go out?  How much time do you spend reading books on how to fix this problem?   How much time do you spend feeling helpless, or in tears because you just can’t see any way out?  You already spend a lot of time dealing with your anxiety, why not spend some time doing something that will make it better?

Not sure you can afford therapy?

Sometimes we lose sight of what really needs to take priority in our lives, especially when we are weighed down by anxiety and worry. We don’t realize that by investing in our own mental and physical health, every other area of our life will benefit.  We spend money on bandages, things that look like they will make us feel better but don’t last very long.  We may spend money on alcohol or pills to make us feel better for a while, or on food, or movies or other diversions to distract us from how we are feeling.  But these things don’t last, so we have to keep doing them over and over, and in the long run they can end up costing way more than counseling that can provide a long term solution.

Still thinking you can do it on your own?

Perhaps you can.  But my guess is you are probably at the end of your own solutions or you wouldn’t be looking at this website.  You wouldn’t be searching for something else.  Have you been trying to fix this on your own for a while – months, years, maybe even most of your life?  It’s probably time to try something different.  It’s probably time to come in and see that you don’t need to try on your own anymore; it’s time to let someone help you.

Here’s how I can help you:

Everyone is unique, so first I want to understand you; I want to understand how you work, and how anxiety shows up in your life.  This is not about blaming or judging, this is about exploring and understanding. Let’s just get curious about what’s going on. I use body-centered techniques and mindfulness practices to help you get back in balance once we understand where the balance has been lost.  If there are past experiences that come up that you need to work through, we will do that together so that you can heal from those experiences and they will no longer keep you stuck. I have experienced intense anxiety, I know what it feels like.  I know how hard it can be to find the energy to even want to heal, let alone the energy it takes to do the work to heal.  I have found healing, I have helped many other find healing, and I can help you find healing.
